Everybody
U NO SCHOOL MONDAY! Next week’s schedule is A,B,A,B
U Book orders went home with 6-8th grade families. Please read the cover letter about ordering online. We get a free book for our classrooms with every online order. The directions for ordering online are in the cover letter. Orders are due by September 28. If you order traditionally PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH. Scholastic will not accept it.
U Make sure you return all forms for art, choir, hand bells, etc.
U P.E. next week will be on WEDNESDAY instead of Friday.
U Many grades have been updated on Fast Direct. It is a good idea to check those every now and then to keep up with you child’s progress.
U If you were not at the athletic meeting see Mr. Miller for a hand book and sign-up for concessions with Mrs. Gotsis. |

5th GRADE
U Bring a book to read and keep in your desk or locker.
U Good week! We are doing much better with the schedule and becoming more responsible!
Math – Tests were taken today and will be returned to students next week. We will be doing some work with multiplication next week. Dust off those flashcards and practice up!
Language – Test over chapter one (sentences) will be on Tuesday. We reviewed in class….it won’t be difficult. Make sure you know the names of the 4 types of sentences and which is which.
Literature- Mrs. Dierking has been teaching us about reading strategies to make us better readers!
Religion- Memory due on Tuesday. We will do some more discussion of parables.
Science- Chapter review and study guide on Tuesday. Test will be on Thursday.
Spelling- Pretest of Unit 3 on Tuesday. Unit three will be due on Thursday.
History- Native Americans, how did they get here? Where did they live? What was their housing like? How did they adapt to their environment? These and other questions will be answered in the coming week! |

6TH GRADE
U Devotion leader next week is Nick Suiter.
Social Studies – Chapter 1 tests were good! We are looking forward to a Chapter 2 test on Thursday September 9th. Students should study their ISN notes, their Pre-reading handout, and their maps.
Math – Review of lessons 1-11 will take place on Wednesday. Test will be on Friday.
Memory – Ephesians 2:10 is due on Friday.
Literature – We are getting deeper into “The Hunger Games”, analyzing the characters and talking about making difficult choices. Come and check out our character posters!
Science- Vocabulary worksheet will be due on Wednesday. We will spend the rest of the class reviewing for the test on Friday.
Language/Spelling- Pretest on Tuesday for spelling. We will take the first Language test on Thursday.

7TH GRADE
U Behavior needs to improve. I will be checking in daily with the other teachers. If significant improvement is not seen, more serious actions will be taken. Please discuss appropriate behavior with your child.
U Wartburg money needs to be turned in by Friday September 17th. Students were given the amount they owe. If you have not seen this sheet. Please ask your child for it.
Religion (Frank) : Job-Malachi = Friday Sept. 3; All OT books = Friday Sept. 10
Religion (Deaconess/Vicar) – There will be weekly quizzes over content presented in class and Memory Work. Quizzes will be on Thursdays. Students have been given handouts to fill out during class discussions. These can serve as their study notes.
Language – Next week we will review mob, mot, mov, grad, and gress. Review quiz Friday. More grammar fun! Thanks to Claire, Emily E., Cayla, and associates for our illustrated word board.
Pre-Al (Rivers)– Review and practice test over lessons 1-11 will be on Tuesday. Test on Thursday.
Pre-Al (Koenig)- We will review on Tuesday. Test on all your efforts so far on Thursday.
Literature – Being an Independent Reading Book (IRB) for Wednesday. It needs to be a biography or an autobiography.
Science- Tests were taken on Thursday. We will begin cells next week.
Research – Reference materials need to be in class on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Geography - You will see the world like a geographer! Physical features, population density, vegetation and climate will be your areas of expertise. Prepare to have your horizons widened! |

8TH GRADE

U Rachel will be our KGOD announcer next week.
U 8th grade visitation day at LHSS is September 23rd. Parents are responsible for dropping off 8th graders at LHSS before 8:45. Pick up is at LHSS at 2:15. Lunch will be provided. I will be at LHSS in the morning so students can check in with me.

Religion (Pastor) – Be sure you are doing Sermon summaries. Also, be reviewing notes and guided reading notes to prepare for quizzes.

History (Koenig) - Discoverers and conquistadores and their scramble for empire in the New World will be introduced. If you are doing a biography, those lists will be passed out on Tuesday. Topics for your semester projects are due to me on Friday, Sept. 10 and an outline of said project on Sept. 17.
Literature – Keep reading your IRB! Due date for the project and report is Sept. 22. Students will learn how to create a wordle next week.
Science- Work on remembering your equations! Bring a calculator to class. Test is coming soon.
Research - Reference materials need to be in class on Tuesday, Sept. 7. |
