Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage

Your mighty Defender is always the same.

Box Tops Contest

Salem is again sponsoring a Box Tops Contest.  A form is being sent home today.  If you need any additional forms, just ask.  Each box top is 10 cents of free money for Salem.  Those dimes add up really fast.  The winning class will earn a special dress down day.  Go Second Grade!

Social Studies Assignment

On Thursday, your child will be bringing home a Social Studies Scavenger Hunt Assignment.  This is to help acquaint your child with his/her neighborhood.  The assignment will be due on Monday, September 13th.

Cross Country

It is not too late for your child to join Salem’s Cross Country team.  There is a practice on Wednesday and a meet on Friday.  The second graders who have already joined have enjoyed it.  If you have any questions just ask Miss Hagan.

Flat Stanley

This year the first and second grade classes will be doing a Flat Stanley Project.  Look for more information toward the end of next week.

Websites

Two websites we have used this week include “Grow a Plant” and “Punctuation Paintball.”  You can access both of these from your home computer.  Also, our spelling list for the year is on “Spellingcity.com.”  This is a great and fun way to review the spelling words.  Each student in our class also has a subscription to “iknowthat.com.”  I will be sending more information home shortly.

Newsletter on the Web

This week, please take some time to see if you can access our newsletter from Salem’s Web.  I would prefer to send the newsletter home that way.  It will save much time and paper.  Please let me know whether or not you are able to access it. Thanks.
