Kindergarten

Mrs. Molly Phelps

We have a wonderful class full of fun, enthusiastic and energetic Kindergarteners!  We are learning the rules of school and how to get along with each other. Music class, Computer class and P.E. are a lot of fun, but we also enjoy Math, Reading, and practicing our handwriting. Most importantly we are learning about God's love for us and how we can share His love with others.

Kindergarten News   10/22/10

We had an AWESOME field trip on Thursday.  Thanks to the parents and grandparents who were able to drive and go with us.  Thanks also for remembering to send cold lunches and booster seats!

This week we learned about Jonah and the big fish.  During Reading worked on making predictions and listening for the ending sound in a word.  In Math we put the numbers 0 – 10 in order and to figure out when a number is missing.  We also continued learning about transportation, which was capped off with our field trip.

Next week we will learn about Ruth and Naomi during Jesus time.  We will read and learn about pumpkins during Reading and Science.  During Math we will continue working with numbers 0-10 in order and finding missing numbers.  We will also learn to identify and count pennies.

Report cards came home in folders today.  Please sign and return the envelope, the report card itself is yours to keep.  You should also have received a note with the time of your parent/teacher conference for next week.  I’ll have the master list posted outside the classroom if you need to double check.  Let me know if you need to change your time.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week.  There are special dress days throughout the week.  A pink note was sent home with all the information.  Monday: Sport jersey or shirt and uniform pants, Tuesday: Twin day, dress like a friend (if you don’t know who to dress like, Kindergarten as a group can dress alike in jeans and a green t-shirt), Wednesday: Black and gold top with jeans, Thursday: Red or white dress code top, dress code bottoms. There is no school on Friday.  If a student doesn’t dress in the theme of the day, he or she must wear normal school uniform clothes.

Next week is the last week to wear shorts and capris until April.  As of November 1st, no more shorts or Capri pants until spring.

Our Halloween party is Monday, November 1st at 2:00.  Students may bring their costumes to school to change into before the party.  There will be a sign up sheet outside the classroom door next week for bringing treats.
